Utah Pipe Band – Who We Are
Formed in 1937 by Robert S. Barclay, The Utah Pipe Band is the oldest continuously organized Scottish Bagpipe Band in the Western United States. The band has competed in major pipe band competitions and performances throughout the West as well as here at home in Utah and is extremely proud to be a long-standing staple of local community festivals, celebrations and competitions. We offer our sincere gratitude to Memorial Estates who has sponsored us for the last 40 years, making all of this possible.
We are comprised of two competing bands, Grade 4 and Grade 5. Grade 4 is under the direction of pipe major Jeremy Barclay, pipe sergeant Jeremy Rowe, and Drum Sergeant Tiffani Brush. Grade 5, under the instruction of Rob Rowe, is directed by pipe sergeant Jenna Tew and drum sergeant Parker Haven.
We are pleased to have been joined in 2013 by the Galloway Highlanders who have brought leadership, dedication, expertise, and even more fun to the band! Our troupe of award winning highland dancers, ages three and above, travel and perform with us under the instruction of the always-entertaining Julie Earl.
Finally, available in our group are instructors for beginning through advanced piping, drumming in snares, base and tenors, and highland dancing.
